Sean Leffers

Fifteen years ago, designer Sean Leffers was wandering through the flea market in Saint-Ouen when a scrap of fabric poking out of the bottom of a pile of odds and ends caught his eye. It was a loosely woven Japanese shibori too small and delicate to make anything out of, but the poetry of the fine lines flowing across the fabric — a style he would later discover is called Arashi — captured his heart. So began his collection of antique textiles, an entry point to learn about the history of textiles and the people who created them.

His inaugural collections of fabrics, “Between Heaven & Earth” and “In The Shadow Of Merapi”, are an exploration of the unique cultural histories discovered through his journeys; an invitation into the artistic ingenuity and age-old artisan techniques that are still alive but need support if they are to survive.
