KF colleague spotlight / Jaclyn Drummond

In 2021, Jaclyn Drummond fortuitously rolled into our lives, joining our Los Angeles showroom as an Inside Sales Representative. Seduced to Southern California seven years ago from Vancouver, British Columbia, she has found her stride in The City of Angels. With a background in art and a passion for design, she has the smarts and “the eye” to help us and every one of her clients shine. Read on to learn why she has quickly become one of the most dynamic and unstoppable members of our team!

Jaclyn, you joined our Los Angeles showroom team in July 2021 as an Inside Sales Representative. What career and life experiences brought you to Kneedler Fauchère?

I found my way to Kneedler Fauchère serendipitously. I was working in the art world, (I have a BA in Art History and MA in Arts Administration), but I always loved design and wanted to pivot my career into something more creative. I decided to pursue Interior Design in 2020 during the height of Covid, taking online classes at UCLA Extension.

Rocky La Fleur led a lecture on showrooms in one of my first classes, which put Kneedler Fauchère on my radar. I didn’t even know the PDC existed before. About 6 months later I saw a job posting pop up and voila. I’ve been here for 4 years, and I am loving it!

With nearly 4 years under your belt now, your talents have earned you an additional role with KF as Merchandising Coordinator – brava! Tell us what you enjoy most about wearing both hats.

I love being able to flex my creative muscles! Sales keeps me busy and productive; I get to forge relationships with amazing designers and assist them with their daily needs.

The Merchandising side is more project based. I get to put my schooling to the test by drawing floorplans and custom furniture for our displays. One of my favorite tasks is designing our display windows. It’s a great combination of sales and design. I must think outside the box to develop the best way to tell a story and display product to entice our designers.

Outside of working hours, you have another life as “CrackHer Jack” – a roller derby athlete! Why did you choose to start playing the sport? Do you find any correlation between roller derby and the design world?

After college, I struggled with my identity, as many young people do, especially young athletes. I played soccer my whole life and into college, but then poof! No more soccer, no more practice, athlete no more.

Finding roller derby was a coincidence for me, but a very happy one. It gave me a new purpose, a new hobby to learn and love. I was Bambi on ice the first time I tried skating, and learning a completely new sport as an adult was intimidating. But most of my league mates started as adults too, so they were in the same boat as me. They supported me and helped me grow and flourish in the sport.

I now play for Angel City’s Hollywood Scarlets (top 10 team worldwide) and Team Canada Roller Derby. This year I will be attending the Roller Derby World Cup in Austria, representing my home country!

I think the deepest connections between the design world and roller derby are the relationships you build and the community they both create. Both are outlets for creativity and expression, just in different ways. I get to meet so many fun and interesting people in both worlds and feel accepted as an individual in both.

Which are your top picks from new collections for the Spring 2025 season?

Our newest collection, Sean Leffers, is most definitely a highlight. I love the intentional and defined vision he has brought with his debut. I appreciate the timelessness of the patterns combined with the layered techniques used to create beautiful textiles. I also value his attention to detail and environmental consciousness.

A couple other favorite new launches are Bedouins by Pierre Frey, a large-scale embroidery featuring desert nomads, and the relaunch of Manoir by Nobilis, a chic velvet stripe in some interesting and unexpected color combinations.

Is there a current design trend you’re noticing and/or one you predict is on the horizon?

For current, purple! For the first 3 years here at KFLA, I never once had a purple shop request, but this year it’s violet this, lavender that!

For future trends, from my experience interior design always follows fashion. The current trends are quite bold with retro influences, saturated colors, daring prints, and kitschy details. Monotony and tone-on-tone neutrals are leaving in the wake of more personalized style. I predict that this more individualized, yet curated aesthetic will make its way into interiors quickly.
